EYES ON JESUS Lyrics explaination

Hello, thanks for reading!!!

There are links at the top of the home page to the major streaming services to listen there. Hopefully sometime soon I will get the songs on here where they can be purchased directly from me.

I will reference scripture, but I am not going to include it in this post. I do this because I encourage you to read the scripture yourselves. You may get something more out the scriptures than what I do. His Word is a living Word. What do I mean by that? It is alive in us… You may read the scripture and it points to something going on in your life today. And then a month from now, you read that same exact scripture and you get something completely different.

First off I will say this song was an incredibly easy write. These lyrics were about 95% complete in less than 2 hours of research and writing. I attribute this to the Holy Spirit, whom guided my hand and my tongue. I take no credit for anything here. All these songs are God given. Do I have a hand in them? Of course I do, but I would not be doing any of this without Jesus.

1st Verse

Lord, I Repent
And I Rejoice in your love
I’m born again
Let your light shine through me

Going back to my blog on salvation, which you should read if you haven’t.  I do not believe just saying Jesus “is” Lord and Savior will save you… Repentance.. Accepting Jesus into your heart... Being born again… becoming that new person in Christ… all these are part of that declaration that “Jesus is my Lord and 'MY' Savior” entails.

Once we do this, the light of Jesus shines in us. The world sees us differently… the world doesn’t just see us… the world sees Christ in us… the world rejected him… and it will reject us…

John 15:18-25, Matthew 10:22, John 17:14, and Luke 6:22 all talk about how the world will hate those who accept Jesus into their hearts and live by his Word.

Pre Chorus

Jesus saved me from a raging sea to walk on the water
Whether down in the valley or high on a mountain
I will sing his praise

In Matthew 14:22-33 to sum it up… Jesus in the midst of a storm tells Peter to walk on water to come to him… There is a lot more to this story, but I am just touching on a little piece of it. My intentions are that Jesus saved me from the worst times of my life… times I didn’t want to live any more… times I just missed being killed by a fraction of an inch… And now whether I am in the grandest moments you can experience or in the lowest lows you can experience, I will sing his praises!!! Because no matter what happens to me here, he will lift me up and give me everlasting life!!! Amen!!!

2nd Verse

You I serve
And the Holy Spirit
I forgive
And I turn the other cheek

Well, obviously, if we serve Jesus we serve God. But don’t forget the third part. Serving the Holy Spirit. Give him praise and glory also because He helps us here on earth. In John 14:16, 14:28, 15:26, and 16:7, Jesus talks how we are better that He goes and the Comforter comes to teach us His Word and guide us!!! Isn’t that AWESOME!!! God not only sent his Son to die for us, he sent us the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort us!!! AMEN!!!

Repeat Pre Chorus

Chorus

From a raging storm
To a soothing calm
I’ll keep my eyes on Jesus
I’ll keep my eyes on Jesus

No matter how great or how bad things are going in our lives. The best thing we can do is to keep our eyes on Jesus. Stay focused on him… On his teachings… On his Word… On his Love!!!

Back to the story in Matthew 14:22-33, Peter gets out the boat and he’s walking on water towards Jesus… then he hears the waves crashing… he feels the splash from the waves hitting him… he’s distracted by a wave that may hit him… he takes his eyes off Jesus… and he sinks into the sea…

We all do it, no one is perfect. We take our eyes off Jesus… maybe just for a moment… But that is all it takes.. to start to sink… Get those eyes back on Him!!! He is the WAY!!!

We must learn to keep our eyes on Jesus, it is a simple as that. He can get us through any thing!!!!

3rd Verse

I spread the word
As I seek his Kingdom
Ask, seek and knock
To enter the narrow gate

I am saying “spread the word”, but really Jesus did not say to just do this… In Matthew 28:19-20 he says to make disciples!!! That is very different then just telling people the good news. Telling them the good news is just the start. Instructing them in His teachings and commandments so they can then do the same is the instruction.

Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus says those who ask, seek and knock will find the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus talks of two paths… one hard, one easy… one leads to life, one to death…

That path and that gate is Jesus. Contrary to what some “religious leaders” have said, which is 100% anti-Christ, there is only one path that leads to God. That is the path of Jesus Christ. I will quote here. John 14:6 AMPC “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.” It is extremely clear. He didn’t say you can go through me or <insert any other religious head>… If your leaders are saying otherwise, I would suggest you consider a different church.

Outro

With a word alone
He lifts up dry bones
With a word alone
He lifts up dry bones

Pretty easy to understand what I am saying there. Jesus says to your spirit “Rise” when you become born again. And when the time comes that he raises us from our graves to reign with Him, he will need only say that one word.

He is that Mighty!!!

He is Lord!!!

He is King!!!

He is my Savior!!!

I’ll Keep My Eyes On Him!!!!

Thank you for reading! I pray this touches hearts and brings eyes on Jesus!
